As every year, the Mediencampus of Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences opened its doors to offer a thrilling and satisfying Global Game Jam experience for all fellow jammers from January 26.-28., 2024

Here is a short run down of what participants could expect at Germany's largest jamsite:

  • GGJ Keynote and Theme Reveal (if you haven’t indulged in spoilers yet)
  • Social gathering and traditional excessive pizza consumption (may or may not include pineapples)
  • Ideation Session (on a full stomach) und team building
  • Workspaces in several PC labs including professional game development software (e.g. Unity3D, UnrealEngine5, CryEngine, Maya, Blender, Zbrush, Adobe Creative Suite, Houdini, etc.)
  • Late Night Jam Session for Game Sounds and Music (feel free to bring your own instruments)
  • Recording Studio and Mixing Software to provide your games with the certain umph
  • Sleeping spaces (#thefloorisnotcomfy)
  • Breakfast (bananas, apples, cereal, snacks and coffee …. lots of coffee. Or tea. Whatever floats your boat. We don’t judge.)

The Global Game Jam® (GGJ®) is the world’s largest game creation event taking place in physical locations across the globe. Think of it as a 48 hour hackathon focused on game development around a theme. GGJ’s mission is to stimulate innovation, experimentation, and collaboration in games. The annual event begins on a Friday afternoon in January and kicks off with video keynotes and advice from leaders in the game development industry.
