In 2021, the hFMA is once again offering you pitch workshops by the popular trainer Sibylle Kurz, this time a two-day pitch workshop at Kassel University of Art. Everyone studying in the film and media sector or planning a project etc. should not miss this chance!

Date:
Thursday, 10/28/2021
10.00 - 17.00

Location:
The event takes place online.

After the public lecture, the practice begins: in the workshop, participants will practice on the projects they have brought with them. Therefore, it is important to bring your own idea, concept or project to the workshop in order to work on the next project development steps in terms of content and strategy in a practical and concrete way.

Information about the workshop: How do I explain to others why my project is so important and great? That is not so easy! Especially not when I am looking for funding and my counterpart is accordingly critical... With Sibylle Kurz you can practice exactly that and take home valuable feedback from the trainer and the other participants as well as inspiring tips and tricks.

Studying and working in the arts, culture and media sector means thinking into the future - and then taking the next step: Ideas want to be implemented, new ways of thinking and concepts want to be produced and discovered by an audience. Whether student short films, classic documentaries, games, animations, commercial cinema, cross- and transmedia concepts or experimental video art - creativity needs publicity!

As a creative person, you are not only constantly busy developing your project, but also making the idea behind it comprehensible to others in order to inspire them. To do this, it's important to formulate your thoughts out loud and tell them to others in order to become clearer to yourself. Whether you call it brainstorming, presenting or pitching... the main thing is to get on with the projects. With this in mind, the pitching workshop has two main focuses:

  • the elaboration of the living motive of the project and its strengths and weaknesses, as well as
  • the effective communication and presentation of the creative and thematic focus with the help of basic technical elements.

After all, the right "pitch" of a project usually determines its chances of realization. Trainer Sibylle Kurz covers:

  • project development and research before presentations
  • different presentation situations and contexts
  • necessary communication techniques - verbal and non-verbal - and their effect
  • the essence of material, themes, and their emotional effects on the audience

All film and media students from the network of the Hessian Film and Media Academy are eligible to apply. Priority is given to students in their main course of study, final projects and participants who have not yet attended a pitch workshop at the hFMA.
