Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences is one of Germany’s largest universities of applied science.  The media faculty at Mediencampus Dieburg offers seven Bachelor and three Master’s courses in the fields of media, information, communication and journalism.

A Bachelor degree can be obtained in the media production courses Animation & Computer Games, Interactive Media Design, Motion Pictures, Sound and Music Production as well as in Information Sciences, Online Journalism and Online Communication.

The media production courses boast state-of the-art studios and laboratories that bring forth award-winning films, radio plays, animations, computer games, augmented reality, interactive applications, installations and more.

Information sciences feature the practice-oriented study of organizing information and data, e.g. in the form of digital archives. The Online Communication course offers qualification profiles for online marketing, PR and corporate learning. The Online Journalism course focuses on science and data as well as international and European news coverage.

These are augmented by the Master’s courses Leadership in the Creative Industries, Information Science and Media Development. A further Master’s course is currently in preparation: International Media Cultural Work.

The faculty boasts a broad international network and provides annual exchange programmes with universities within and without Europe. There is also a long-standing cooperation with the Cork Institute of Technology / Ireland.

The main study focus at the Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences media campus includes audio-medial production aesthetics, online communication, social media, soundscape studies and media ecology, archive and software development – sometimes as part of LOEWE research projects. Faculty research is organized by the Institute for Communication and Media (ikum).
