The members of FRIGO will present their past works and present projects, achievements, the artists they have invited and assisted, their methods of work and modes of production. These are reminiscent of the places, dreams and upheavals from the period of time between May 1968 and the fall of the Berlin wall.
Heir to many art movements breaking away from both the market and the world of official art, FRIGO advocated an aesthetic of existence – alternative, elegant and based on both individual and collective practices of creation, blending public and private spheres, in a spirit of freedom, for free.
FRIGO was one of the iconic groups of Europe's underground and alternative cultural scene. The Centre Pompidou and the Musée d'Art Moderne of Paris, the Kassel documenta, l'Usine in Geneva, Ars Electronica in Linz, Beursshowburg in Brussels – amongst other international contemporary stages – produced their projects and hosted their actions.
FRIGO team: Gérard Couty, Gérard Bourgey, Alain Garlan, Mike A. Hentz, Rotraut Pape, Jacques Bigot, Michel Piet, Robert Lapassade, Christian Vanderborght, Marc Moget, Cécile Dumas, Serge Boissat, Gilles Grand and his students, Alain Oddou, Vincent Michaux, David Dronet.
