a festival on the intersection of film, performance and visual arts - send your application until June 5th!

July 28-30, 2017 – Gießen

Hungry Eyes presents a forum for short films, performances and installations under the open sky of Gießen and on stage at the city’s Institute of Applied Theatre Studies. All works will be in touch with film and the moving image and result in a program that is supposed to offer a curious exploration of stage, screen and studio. We are looking for works across the disciplines. Independently of their year of production we want to put your art in fresh dialogues.

One focus of the event will be on local artists and on fostering immediate exchange and collaboration The short films will be presented in two sections, an open one and one focussing on films that you might associate with “Trash”. In the latter category a jury will award the weirdest film with a lovely golden crown! Besides the selected works the team is planning to arrange talks with critics and artists, a film concert, workshops and a
panel discussion.

Hungry Eyes is based on a student-run, non-profit initiative. The event is organized and curated by individuals from theory and practice of film and theatre. We share the desire of establishing an annual occasion for encounters with the moving image in close proximity to one of the main hubs of Germany’s independent theatre scene.
